Puppies and kittens require frequent wellness visits to ensure they develop a strong immune system and grow into healthy adults. As an adult, your pet should receive wellness care at least annually. Then, when your pet reaches senior status, they’ll again require more frequent wellness visits to closely monitor their health and screen for hidden disease before they progress. No matter what life stage your pet is in, their wellness visits will follow a similar pattern. Initially, we’ll discuss your pet’s lifestyle, concerns at home, and any questions you have about nutrition, behavior, and other health care topics. Our veterinary team will perform a thorough physical exam to evaluate your pet’s various body systems. Next, our veterinarian will create a wellness plan based on your pet’s lifestyle and exposure risk. We’ll vaccinate against diseases your pet may be exposed to, and check for parasites that can also cause infection. To check for early-stage disease, we’ll run diagnostic screening tests that are dependent on your pet’s age, breed, and current health status. We’ll keep these test results with your pet’s file to monitor subtle changes, trends, and patterns that can indicate early disease. Each step of your pet’s wellness visit is designed to ensure they remain in the best of health.
